To be India’s most trusted academic publisher — one that advances knowledge, amplifies Indian scholarship on the global stage, and builds an intellectual community where every serious researcher finds a home for their work. We envision a future in which peer-reviewed Indian scholarship is as visible, as cited, and as consequential as that produced anywhere in the world. Futures Academic exists to help make that future real.
To publish original, rigorous, and meaningful academic work — and to support the scholars who produce it at every stage of their intellectual life. We pursue this mission through peer-reviewed journals, scholarly books and monographs, academic conferences and seminars, and a genuine commitment to the professional development of researchers across India and beyond. We do not simply publish scholarship. We invest in it — through careful editorial engagement, ethical publishing practices, and a belief that ideas, rigorously tested and clearly expressed, have the power to change the world.
Futures Academic operates across four principal areas of academic engagement. Each area is designed to support scholars at every stage of their intellectual and professional life — from doctoral research to senior academic publishing.
A. Academic Journals
The publication of peer-reviewed academic journals is the cornerstone of Futures Academic’s work. Our journals are designed to provide rigorous, open, and internationally visible platforms for original scholarship across the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.
| Peer review standard | Double-blind peer review for all submitted articles. Minimum two independent reviewers per submission. |
| Publication frequency | Quarterly (four issues per year) for established journals. Annual or bi-annual for new journals in their inaugural phase. |
| Scope | Each journal publishes original research articles, review essays, book reviews, and, where relevant, policy commentaries. |
| Access model | Open access and subscription models, clearly stated per journal. |
| Indexing | We actively pursue indexing with UGC CARE, SCOPUS, and other international academic databases. |
| Language | English, with scope to include Hindi and regional language scholarship in select journals. |
| Ethics | All journals operate under a comprehensive publication ethics policy aligned with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. |
| Current flagship journal: Global Frontier: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Politics. Accepting submissions across political theory, international relations, comparative politics, public policy, and related fields. Visit futuresacademic.com for submission guidelines. |
B. Scholarly Books & Monographs
Futures Academic publishes peer-reviewed scholarly books, edited volumes, and academic monographs across the humanities and social sciences. Our book publishing programme is designed for academics who need a publisher that understands the requirements of scholarly publishing — from the structure of a monograph to the importance of a rigorous index.
All book proposals are assessed by a minimum of two external peer reviewers before an offer is made. Authors retain copyright in their work unless otherwise agreed, and all titles are registered with the ISBN India system under the Futures Publishing registrant element.
C. Academic Conferences & Seminars
Futures Academic organises, co-organises, and provides publishing support for academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and colloquia. We believe that intellectual community — the gathering of scholars around shared questions — is as important as publication, and we support that community through events that bring research to life.
| Annual conference | Futures Academic hosts an annual interdisciplinary conference on politics, governance, and social sciences. Call for papers issued 6 months in advance. |
| Thematic seminars | Periodic online and in-person seminars on focused research themes, open to scholars, researchers, and advanced students. |
| Workshops | Skills-based workshops for academic writers: scholarly publishing, peer review, grant writing, and research methodology. |
| Conference proceedings | Futures Academic publishes peer-reviewed conference proceedings with ISBN registration for select events. |
| Institutional partnerships | We welcome partnerships with universities, colleges, and research institutes to co-host events and publish their proceedings. |
| Call for papers | Published on futuresacademic.com. Open to national and international submissions. |
D. Support for Academicians
Beyond publishing, Futures Academic is committed to the professional and intellectual development of the scholars we work with. We understand that academic life involves more than producing research — it involves navigating a complex professional landscape, developing skills, and building community. We offer meaningful support across that journey.
| Early-career researchers | Dedicated mentorship from our editorial team for first-time academic authors. Guidance on structuring an article, writing for a journal, and responding to peer review. |
| PhD scholars | Support for doctoral researchers preparing to publish from their thesis. Advice on selecting the right journal, preparing a book proposal, and navigating the transition from thesis to monograph. |
| Faculty & senior academics | Streamlined submission process, rapid peer review decisions, and personalised editorial engagement for established academic authors. |
| Institutions & departments | Custom publishing solutions for university departments, research centres, and academic associations. We publish departmental journals, working paper series, and institutional proceedings. |
| Book reviews | Our journals publish academic book reviews. We actively invite scholars to contribute reviews and provide review copies for this purpose. |
| Writing & research guidance | Access to our blog, editorial notes, and workshop resources on academic writing, publishing strategy, and research methodology. |
Futures Academic was established with a clear set of objectives that guide every publishing decision, editorial relationship, and institutional partnership we form.
| 01 — Publish rigorous scholarship | To publish original, peer-reviewed academic work of the highest intellectual standard across the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields. |
| 02 — Support Indian scholarship globally | To provide Indian scholars with a credible, internationally visible academic publisher that represents their work with the professionalism it deserves. |
| 03 — Build academic community | To convene scholars through conferences, seminars, and journals that create dialogue, debate, and intellectual community across disciplines and institutions. |
| 04 — Champion early-career researchers | To invest in the academic careers of doctoral scholars and early-career researchers through publication opportunities, mentorship, and professional guidance. |
| 05 — Promote open access | To advance open access publishing wherever possible, making peer-reviewed scholarship freely available to readers regardless of institutional affiliation or geographic location. |
| 06 — Maintain ethical standards | To uphold the highest standards of publication ethics — in peer review, authorship, data integrity, and conflict of interest — aligned with international best practice. |
| 07 — Develop academic infrastructure | To contribute to the development of India’s academic publishing infrastructure by growing a credible, indexed, and internationally recognised portfolio of journals and books. |
| 08 — Foster interdisciplinary dialogue | To publish and platform scholarship that crosses disciplinary boundaries, connecting political science with law, history, economics, sociology, and international studies. |
