Guidelines for Authors

Guidelines for Authors

Global Frontier: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Politics welcomes original scholarly submissions that engage with political questions through rigorous, interdisciplinary, and methodologically sound approaches. Authors are requested to read these guidelines carefully before preparing and submitting their manuscripts. Submissions that do not conform to these guidelines may be returned to authors without being sent for peer review.

1. Scope and Eligibility of Submissions

Global Frontier publishes research in political science and related fields, including international relations, law, governance, sociology, history, philosophy, and cultural studies, where these intersect meaningfully with political inquiry. Before submitting, authors are advised to confirm that their manuscript falls within this scope.

The journal accepts the following types of contributions:

  • Original Research Articles — Empirical or theoretical studies presenting new findings or advancing existing debates.
  • Review Articles — Comprehensive, critical reviews of existing literature on a clearly defined theme or scholarly debate.
  • Conceptual and Theoretical Papers — Papers that develop, critique, or substantially advance theoretical frameworks in political science or related disciplines.
  • Case Studies — In-depth, analytically rigorous examinations of specific political events, institutions, policies, or actors.

Note: Manuscripts that are purely descriptive without analytical contribution, or that fall outside the journal’s stated scope, will not be considered for publication.

2. Originality and Simultaneous Submission

Submission of a manuscript to Global Frontier is taken as confirmation by the author(s) that:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been previously published in any form, in whole or in part, in any language.
  • The manuscript is not currently under review at any other journal or publication.
  • The manuscript does not reproduce, without proper attribution, content from the author’s own previously published work to a degree that constitutes self-plagiarism.

Manuscripts found to be in violation of any of the above conditions will be rejected immediately, and the matter may be reported to the author’s affiliated institution where appropriate.

3. Manuscript Length

Manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words, inclusive of all references, footnotes, and endnotes. Abstracts, keywords, and title information are not counted within this limit. Authors are encouraged to write concisely and to avoid unnecessary repetition. Submissions that significantly exceed the word limit without scholarly justification may be returned for revision before they are sent for peer review.

4. Language and Style

All manuscripts must be submitted in English. The journal does not accept submissions in any other language. The journal does not provide language editing services. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly advised to have their manuscripts reviewed by a proficient English language editor prior to submission.

Authors may follow either British English or American English conventions, provided that usage is consistent throughout the manuscript.

5. Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

5.1 General Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx). PDF submissions are not accepted at the submission stage.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point.
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout, including the reference list.
  • Margins: One inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Page numbers: All pages must be numbered consecutively, beginning from the title page.
  • Alignment: Left-aligned or justified throughout.

5.2 Title Page

The title page must be submitted as a separate document from the main manuscript, as the journal follows double-blind peer review. The title page should contain:

  • Full title of the manuscript.
  • Name(s) of all author(s).
  • Designation and complete institutional affiliation of each author.
  • Institutional email address of the corresponding author.
  • Postal address of the corresponding author’s institution.
  • ORCID ID of author(s), if available.
  • Word count of the manuscript.
  • Declaration that the manuscript is original and not under review elsewhere.

5.3 Main Manuscript Document

The main manuscript document must contain no identifying information about the author(s). It should include the following sections in order:

  • Title. The title should be concise, informative, and clearly reflective of the manuscript’s subject matter. Titles should generally not exceed 15 words.
  • Abstract. A structured abstract of between 150 and 250 words must be provided. The abstract should clearly state the research question or objective, the methodology employed, the key findings or arguments, and the significance or contribution of the work. The abstract must be self-contained and should not contain references.
  • Keywords. A list of 5 to 7 keywords must be provided below the abstract. Keywords should reflect the core themes, concepts, geographical focus, and methodology of the manuscript.
  • Main Text. The main text should be organised under clear, logical headings and subheadings. The typical structure includes Introduction, Theoretical Framework or Literature Review, Methodology, Analysis or Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Authors may deviate from this structure where the nature of their work requires it, provided the structure is logical and clearly signposted.
  • Acknowledgements (if applicable). Acknowledgements of funding, institutional support, or research assistance should appear after the main text and before the references. Acknowledgements must not appear in the submission document — they should be included only in the final accepted version.
  • References. All references must be provided at the end of the manuscript in a separate References section.

6. Citation and Referencing Style

Global Frontier follows the Author-Date (Chicago) referencing style for all in-text citations and reference lists. All in-text citations must correspond to entries in the reference list, and all works listed in the references must have been cited in the text.

These details will be assigned and added by the editorial office at the time of final publication. Each page of a published article will be numbered consecutively.

9. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Global Frontier undergo initial editorial screening by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements of scope, originality, language quality, and formatting will be returned to the author at this stage without proceeding to peer review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review by a minimum of two independent expert reviewers. Under this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept strictly confidential throughout.

Following peer review, authors will receive one of the following decisions:

  • Accept — The manuscript is accepted for publication as submitted.
  • Minor Revision — The manuscript is accepted subject to minor corrections specified by the reviewers.
  • Major Revision — The manuscript requires substantial revision before a final decision can be made.
  • Reject — The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

Authors invited to revise their manuscripts must submit the revised version along with a detailed response letter addressing each reviewer comment point by point.

10. Plagiarism Policy

Global Frontier takes academic integrity with the utmost seriousness. All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using standard detection tools. The journal follows the plagiarism guidelines established by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarised content — including self-plagiarism — at any stage of the editorial process will be rejected. In cases of confirmed plagiarism in already published articles, the journal reserves the right to retract the publication and notify the author’s affiliated institution. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submission before it is sent to the journal.
